The Longevity of Japanese Automobiles Explained

Since the 1960s, Japan has been widely considered to be one of the best automotive manufacturers in the world. Japanese car manufacturers like Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Daihatsu and several others are synonymous with top-quality automotives and have been for over half a century now.

There are several reasons for this, from their high quality of engineering, to their safety and product assurance, as well as the drive of the car once it hits the road. Japanese cars tend to have excellent suspension and handling as well, leading to a fantastic driving experience.

One of the best attributes of Japanese car manufacturers is that they ensure that their customers bring their vehicles to the service centre on a monthly basis, thus ensuring that the vehicle can be checked for any issues. By doing so, they not only provide top-notch service, but they also ensure that their customers are always getting the best driving experience possible by solving issues that might have otherwise gone undetected for months.

This also gives them an opportunity to speak to customers at length and understand exactly what it is that they are thinking of with regards to their vehicle. This allows them to pre-empt the needs of their customers. Even when people don’t visit the service centres on a regular basis, manufacturers in Japan ensure that they speak to their customers at least once a quarter.

Speaking to their customers on a regular basis provides these manufacturers with the opportunity to anticipate the needs of their customers, whether that is in the form of ensuring availability of the correct parts or preventing wider damage from occurring by catching a problem early.

Japanese automobiles are renowned as vehicles that provide great durability and longevity. However, simply buying a Japanese automobile does not guarantee long vehicular life. Along with the vehicle itself, one must try and replicate the after-sales service that makes Japanese automobile manufacturers in order to replicate their lifespan. An oil change, for example, loses its effectiveness after a few thousand miles.

While your car may not display any visible damage as a result of infrequent oil changes, the wear and tear caused to your engine and other parts as a result of old, dirty oil or other lubricants can have a telling effect on your car’s engine life. Picture the difference between a clean engine operating efficiently at the ideal temperature and an engine where the oil is unable to keep the engine completely clean and at the ideal temperature, leading to it operating in an inefficient manner. Such engines may give way before you are ready to buy a new car- but you’ll probably end up having to buy a new car anyway since it doesn’t really make sense to invest in a new engine for a car that is over a decade old.

There are those people who track how long it has been since they changed their engine oil, rotated their tyres and used other automobile services- the problem is that there isn’t always one fixed solution. Some engine oils need to be changed every 3,000 km, while others can last as long as 10,000 km – 15,000 km. It is recommended that tyres be rotated every 8,000 km – 10,000 km. When people allow automobile experts to judge the vehicle in person, this allows for specific recommendations instead of generic recommendations that may or may not be the right answer for your car. There are always variables, such as heat and other weather factors, driving style, mechanical issues, type of operations and terrain of operations that may affect a vehicle internally, and other factors that cannot be accounted for unless the vehicle is examined in person.

This is why we at Saeedi Pro have made it our goal to emulate the service provided in the local markets by Japanese brands in an effort to make customers feel welcome and look forward to getting their cars checked on a regular basis. We provide regular reminders if our records show that any maintenance is due for your vehicle and ensure that your car is in the best possible condition to continue serving you for as long as it possibly can.
