Tyre maintenance is crucial for safe driving. Over time, things can happen to your tyres that can cause you problems when driving and steering. If your wheels keep pulling to one side when you drive or if your tyres and/or steering wheel keep vibrating excessively, you should take your car for a tyre maintenance checkup. Here are some additional tyre maintenance tips.
Keep Your Tyres Balanced
When your car first gets fitted with tyres, they will be put in such a way that keeps them evenly balanced, with even pressure on both sides. Over time, however, they can get unbalanced. This often causes vibrations. This problem can be fixed by taking your tyres to an auto facility to get them balanced again.
Keep Your Wheels Aligned
Your wheels should be aligned evenly with each other and in proportion to the wheel area of your car. This will help prevent your tyres from wearing out. Over time, though, they can get unaligned. Again, a short visit to an auto facility will solve the issue.
Avoid Spinning Your Tyres Excessively
If your car gets stuck in sand or mud, don’t spin your tyres excessively in frustration. This will cause them to erode and wear out. Instead, try gently using a back and forth motion to get your car unstuck.
Beware of Loading Limits
Loading limits are there for a reason. If a tyre has a limit as to how much it can handle, don’t exceed that limit. It will cause damage to your tyres.
